Webinar: Reproducible sample preparation for food analysis

Food occurs in a great variety of consistencies and is often inhomogeneous. Food testing labs require representative samples to produce meaningful and reproducible analysis results. Therefore, food samples must be homogenized, ideally with as little time and effort as possible. The prepared part sample needs to represent the laboratory sample as well as the original sample from which the laboratory sample was extracted. An inhomogeneous sample does not represent the original material because some components may be over- or underrepresented. Consequently, a homogeneous sample is the basis for reliable and representative analytical results.

RETSCH is the global market leader for sample preparation and characterization of solid samples. RETSCH laboratory mills and sieve shakers are ideal tools for sample preparation and quality control of food samples.

Topics of this webinar include:

  • Homogenization, standard deviation, correct analytical values
  • How to find the optimum procedure for your sample
  • Cryogenic grinding (dry ice, liquid nitrogen)
  • Mills suitable for homogenization of food samples
  • Application examples
  • Grain size determination by sieve analysis
